after having so much fun with ron & kathy, it was hard to say goodbye. we talked about plans to all get together maybe in indiana which is where many of the family is buried, maybe next year? i hope so. kathy was gone when i got up, so i didnt get to say goodbye. she is such a fun and gracious lady, i like her alot. and my cousin ron is an endless sea of family knowledge and an all around, fun, great guy! it was such a pleasure to meet them & i hope we get to see each other again. san diego is a place i want to come back to, yep.
after leaving san diego, we traveled EAST (technically on our way home!) to meet my sister brenda’s cousin, doreen and her husband roy. they live in riverside, california. it was great to meet them! we stayed for the afternoon and doreen made sandwiches which we ate on the patio. we sat and talked about family, mostly stories from before i was born, but they were interesting. doreen remembered alot about my mom and it was neat to hear more stories about her. doreen will be in florida next summer for work and is planning to visit with brenda while there. i know brenda will be excited to see her and talk about times when she was little. thanks doreen & roy for the great hospitality, we had a great time getting to know you!
after leaving riverside, we continued east (!!) towards joshua tree national park (which i keep pronouncing joshua twee as it is a bit of a tongue twister to me). we made it at darktime, so we slept at the ewpl just north of there. it was a long day on the road, yep, and julia said she was starting to feel a little feverish (oh no).
