this morning we woke to cold rain, and the kids still with no ride, but not discouraged. julia hung out with them for a bit and had some coffee, then we were on our way, south and west to west yellowstone, then idaho!
here is a video julia shot of the snow:
the snow lasted for a couple of hours, and as we approached idaho and crossed the continental divide (!!), it turned to rain, then stopped, and we could see clear skies ahead!
we continued to drive west on rt 20 through ashton, where we not only saw evidence of idaho potatos (!!)…
but found the elusive, ever so yummy, frost top rootbeer! so we stopped and had some, served by megan, the car hop
later, we stopped in idaho falls and saw this really cool bus/deli/bagelry, which was closed for the season. it was called the psychodelicatessen:
then it was a several hours stop at the idaho falls public library to check emails, facebooks, and update this blog. i know it has been difficult to follow as posts are written and then not posted on the same day, but once these last few days are posted (probably on oct 2), i am gonig to do my darndest to write and post every day. then again, it depends on wifi access. thanks for public libraries with free wifi!
further west on rt 20, we finally stopped and slept at dave’s travel plaza. the wind was crazy and rocked the vibe all night long.
