ive decided to date my posts as i write them because i can write every day, but cannot get them online every day, and it has become confusing for me.
so, today was thursday the 24th.
last evening, we crossed the mississippi into minnesota (say that 5 times real fast!) and found camping at prairie island campground – on the banks of the great mississippi river! the campground was not bad at all but the gnats!!! omg, everywhere, and on everything. but it is camping, and i shouldnt be so fussy. they were annoying, however. our neighbors there were two guys who were bicycling from seattle to boston! good luck guys!
and guess what minnesota has thousands of besides lakes? yep, wind mills!
we drove all day straight across the south part of the state, taking interstate 90, where the speed limit is 70! and very little construction :o)
we did make a little stop to see the jolly green giant, of course:
then overnight at alden municipal campground. we checked in early (4ish) and got our site. the folks here are so so nice! THEY HAVE GREAT WIFI HERE!!! so, i was able to work all evening publishing the past several posts – one with a video! and write this one. julia and i rode our bikes to the local market for milk and ice (and strawberry ice cream!) and now it is after midnight and she is sleeping, i am writing, and saying goodnight.
i will leave you with a pretty picture i took today:
oh! i called willie today to see if it was good to come and see him on saturday, and he said ya! he sounded really happy to hear we were coming to visit. he said they were having a sweat saturday evening, and we are invited to attend. so, tomorrow we are going to pipestone, mn then batesland, sd on saturday. lots of driving coming up. (what’s new) i will have to calculate the mileage but i think it is over 1500 already!
Wow! What a gorgeous photo. Do I have your permission to turn that into some artwork?
