And so it begins...

Today is July 14, 2009.

Today is my son's (and Julia's brother's) 21st birthday! (Happy Birthday Kenny!!)

Today is also Bastille Day (Vive La France!!)


But for this place, today is the beginning of our last month in Washington DC.


My name is Diana, also known as ~em, emma, di, aunt d, sister, honey, sweetheart, and tootie. I am 47 at this writing. My daughter's name is Julia, also known as lou. She is 17.


In one month from today, August 14, 2009, we leave Washington DC to travel many miles, see many things, meet many people, and write many posts here so you can follow us on our journey.

Julia will be studying Photo Journalism beginning in January at Montgomery County Community College, and instead of a semester abroad, she gets a semester on the road! Look for good things from her!


We will be camping for 3 1/2 weeks in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, where we will witness Standing Bear Sundance, and Stones Rising XV.


On 9/9/09, our roadtrip begins. Thanks for following us & for all the well wishes. If there is a place you'd like us to visit, let us know! We will be posting stories, photos, and maybe even a video or two!
